Lose those winter blues with a Flower Show

Winter is hard on us now and many of us are feeling the urge to plant something.. thats usually  how it goes in winter time. The gardener has an itch to get his or her fingers into the soil at exactly the time when we can’t.

There are a couple ways we can “play in the dirt”, among them getting started with our small plants that we’re going to transfer to the outdoors later in the spring, but another great way to get ourself out of those winter time doldrums is by viewing what others have grown and whats taking root in their garden.

A great winter time getaway is taking in an orchid show, which, by the very nature of what you’re seeing, requires some warmth… so you’re going to find that winter time heat as well.

Orchid shows are taking place now all across the United States and some of the great seed catalogs and orchid societies are gearing up for the sales of orchid plants and accoutrements, so its also a great place to get new ideas.

Many of the orchid shows you will attend are also sales, so you may in fact pick up a new plant or two while you’re there.
