The holidays are a time of celebration, a time for friends and family to get together for good food and company, and to catch up on family happenings. One thing that comes with the celebration is great food. Many people will start cooking weeks before their company is due to arrive.

Cooking ahead of time is perfectly acceptable, cooking a few things a day a couple of weeks ahead of time and still be able to continue with your busy life.

Some of the things that you can bake ahead of time are pies, breads, cakes (not Frosted), and cookies. You can freeze them and thaw them the day before the holiday. It is important to cool the food completely and wrap it in plastic wrap and then foil before you freeze it. If you have a vacuum sealer, that’s awesome, use it!

Cooking ahead of time allows you more time to spend with friends and family. You will not be stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is having a good time.

On the day of the holiday, while your dinner is cooking, take out the breads and cakes to thaw. It does not take long, so they will be ready to eat in no time! You can reheat the pies while your eating dinner and they will be ready to eat when your guests are!

The holidays should be enjoyed by everyone, including the cook! When you cook ahead of time, it is makes the holidays more fun for everyone!
