You would think that choosing the right earrings is an easy thing to do, however, it can be quite complicated especially if you are not sure if you want handmade jewelry or casted. There are differences that you should be aware of before you make your decision.

When jewelry is made by hand, it is done by twisting and bending the material. Hammering soldering sawing and filing the metal is continued until the desired form has taken the shape.

It may sound complicated; however it is really quite simple to understand. When a jeweler wants to make a wedding ring, he or she will melt down gold or silver and place the liquid into a mold. When it is removed from the mold, it resembles anything but a round ring, however through a process of rolling and then milling, the piece it is cut into the appropriate size and it is then soldered, and hammered into a ring shape. It is then polished to a high gleam and the wedding ring is finished. It may seem like the process takes a long time, however it only takes about an hour to create a wonderful, beautiful ring.

Jewelers create wedding rings more than any other piece of jewelry. They create works of art designed to the customer’s specifications and very seldom reproduce the same exact piece. Jewelry that is reproduced in quantity is called casting.
